Congratulations to the Momentum Forum Most Inspiring Man of the Year 2012, Mr John Schumann!
John Schumann, writer and performer of "I was only 19" is one of the few songwriters who have changed the way a nation thinks. He first came to national attention in 1980 when his hit song brought post-traumatic stress disorder suffered by returned veterans to the attention of ordinary Australians.
As a result, he holds a distinguished place in the Australian music industry. He has since then used his musical talents and wealth of other skills to bring encouragement, inspiration and hope to returned soldiers, school children, prisoners, victims of drought, floods and bushfires.
John Schumann also made an impact to the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Trait Islanders, farmers and those living in mining, agricultural and remote communities.
Momentum Forum Events would like to thank all nominees, and is honoured to have John Schumann as the 2012 Most Inspiring Man of the Year.
